Nizwa is one of the largest cities in Oman and the capital of the interior region. It has a wealth of cultural and ancient landmarks, most prominent is Nizwa fort built over a period of 12 years and located in the city center. The fort is surrounded by ancient traditional souqs (markets) where the locals trade in traditional as well as imported merchandise, from vegetables to jewelry. Nizwa is an oasis in the enclosed by a series of mountains upon which the famous green mountain (al Jabal al Akhdar) lies. The city is also at cross roads that lead to southern Oman as well as the Dhahirah and Sharqiah regions.

Nizwa.NET is educational, public, web site with the purpose of spreading awareness about the country of Oman in the Middle East.

Nizwa.NET started as "Nizwa Oasis" and hosted by geocities but due to the popularity of the site, it was often blocked when bandwidth reached its maximum limits. Nizwa.NET was born out of that site with pretty much the same information but with more flexibility and ease of navigation. Besides tourist information, the site focuses on issues related to agriculture and the environment. Besides original contents, some of the information on this site is collected over time from various sources that are indicated at the bottom of each page.
